Mount Horeb wins Division 3 Boys Soccer Championship

Championship Saturday started with the Division 2 final between the Oregon Panthers and the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes.  The Blue Dukes take the gold ball back to Whitefish Bay for the 3rd year in a row by defeating Oregon 6-1. Whitefish Bay scored 30 seconds into the game on a shot from 10 yards out by Matthew Comiskey, assisted by Evan Kortebein. Comiskey scored again in the 7th minute, unassisted, on a free kick from the right side, 35 yards out. Goal number 3 for the Blue Dukes goes to Jimmy Zebell, assist by Jeremy Haddock in the 20th minute on a header from 5 yards out.  Mario Carino gets his name in the book for the Blue Dukes by scoring in the 22nd minute from 5 yards out on the left side, assisted by Zebell. In the 37th minute Drew Nelson scores for Whitefish Bay on a corner kick.  The final goal for Whitefish Bay comes in the 41st minute from Haddock, assist by Comiskey, on a 12 yard shot coming from the right side.  Johnny Auer prevents the shutout by putting Oregon on the board in the 63rd minute, unassisted. Saves for Elian Haddock of Whitefish Bay 1 and Oregon's Duncan Morgan and Shane Sullivan each had 1.

Marquette University High School wins the Division 1 title for the 4th year in a row by defeating Arrowhead 2-1. Arrowhead's only goal of the game was an own-goal in the 16th minute.  Marquette's goals are credited to Danny Durand, unassisted, in the 51st minute and Nicholas Cheung's penalty kick goal in the 64th minute.  Saves for Marquette University H.S. 2 and for Sydney Marquardt of Arrowhead 2.

In Division 4, The Prairie School Hawks add another gold ball to their trophy case after defeating the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 1-0. The Hawks Luis Garduno, assist from Koda Fletcher, put the only score on the board in the 3rd minute on a shot 10 yards out from the left side.  Saves for Will Sullivan of The Prairie School 2 and for Trent Maas of Sturgeon Bay 0.  

The last game of the tournament was the Division 3 matchup between the Delavan-Darien Comets and the Mount Horeb Vikings. After taking the silver ball home in 2016, the Vikings now have a gold one to add to their collection with a 2-1 win. In the 23rd minute Jaden Neumann of Mount Horeb scores on a penalty kick.  In the 69th minute Osvaldo Torres of Delavan-Darien ties the game on a corner kick from 30 yards out.  The game winning goal comes in the 79th minute from Jacob Culbertson of Mount Horeb on a penalty kick.  Saves for Ben Leis of Mount Horeb 3 and for Hugo Valdez of Delavan-Darien 2.
