Whitewater, Oshkosh selected to D3 NCAA Baseball Tournament

The teams earned two of the 18 at-large spots into the 58-team field. UW-Oshkosh (31-8) will compete in a regional hosted by College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. The Titans, who are making their league-leading 25th NCAA appearance – and first since 2008 – will open against Bethel University (Minn.) (32-9). UW-Oshkosh won national titles in 1985 and 1994. Also competing in the regional are: Concordia University-Chicago (Ill.) (33-12); North Central College (Ill.) (28-12), University of Dubuque (Iowa) (24-15); and Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) (23-10).

UW-Whitewater (31-6) is making its 11th straight appearance – and 21st overall – with national championships in 2005 and 2014. The Warhawks will participate in a regional hosted by the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in Sauget, Ill., and face Monmouth College (Ill.) (28-12-2) in their first game. Also competing in the regional are: Webster University (Mo.) (36-8); University of Texas-Tyler (29-16); Rhodes College (Tenn.) (29-14); Franklin College (Ind.) (38-3); Aurora University (Ill.) (30-13); and Thomas More College (Ky.) (24-18).

Both regionals follow a double-elimination format and begin on May 17. Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, May 25-29/30. The championship is hosted by UW-Oshkosh, Lawrence University and Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau.
