Champions Crowned in WIAA Girls State Soccer Tournament

Bay Port, Brookfield Central, Notre Dame, and Kenosha St. Joseph won WIAA state girls soccer championships this weekend at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. Oregon finished as runner-up in Division 2.

DIVISION 1

Bay Port 3, Sheboygan North 1

Bay Port (24-1) captured the program’s first State championship with a 3-1 win over Sheboygan North in the Division 1 final. The Pirates win the title in their fourth State appearance after placing runner-up a year ago. Sheboygan North (22-1-1) finishes runner-up in its first-ever State tournament appearance.

DIVISION 2

Brookfield Central 2, Oregon 0

Brookfield Central (18-1-1) won the Division 2 championship with a 2-0 victory over Oregon. The Lancers, who won the Division 1 title a year ago, dropped down a division to win their second straight title and their sixth overall. They won four consecutive titles in Division 1 from 2002-05. Oregon (12-4-6) finishes runner-up in its third appearance in the title game and its fourth State tournament experience. The Panthers won the title in 2015 and runner-up were also runners-up in 2016.

DIVISION 3

Notre Dame 1, Catholic Memorial 0

Notre Dame (17-5-1) is the new champion in Division 3 by beating six-time defending champion Catholic Memorial 1-0. The Tritons win their first championship in five appearances in the State final and in their 11th experience in the tournament overall. Ten-time State champion Catholic Memorial (21-3-2) finishes runner-up in its 14th State tournament appearance.

DIVISION 4

Kenosha St. Joseph 2, Cedar Grove-Belgium 1

Kenosha St. Joseph (17-5-1) is the champion in Division 4 after downing Cedar Grove-Belgium 2-1 in the championship. The Lancers win the State championship in their first tournament appearance, and Cedar Grove-Belgium (16-2-1) finishes runner-up in its first experience at State.
