Madison Memorial is playoff-eligible after beating Madison West 35-13 on Friday night to stay unbeaten atop the Big 8, and also clinched the city championship. Coach Mike Harris joined The Big 1070 after the Spartans' big win.
Harris said that the game was physical, and that West did a great job keeping Memorial's offense off the field, as the Spartans only ran 12 plays and had the ball for just over five minutes in the first half. However, a flurry of points just before halftime broke a 7-7 tie, and in the final 2:54 of the second quarter, Memorial increased their lead to 28-7.
On that point, Harris said that the Spartans work on those late-half situations, which played out last week as well when Memorial put up 13 points in the final four minutes to beat Middleton on a last-second Hail Mary.
