UW Commit Sydney Hilliard paces Monroe to win over Edgewood

Wisconsin commit Sydney Hilliard scored the first 11 points of Monroe's 75-58 win over Edgewood in Badger South Conference play on Friday night, scoring 25 points in the victory.

Hilliard got 22 of those points in the first half, when Monroe took a 40-25 halftime lead on the Crusaders. The Cheesemakers had big second halves from the Benzschawel sisters, as Megan scored 12 of her 16 in the second frame, while Emily had 11 of her 17 after halftime as well. Monroe never trailed in the win.

Edgewood got 11 different Crusaders into the scoring column, led by Sarah Lazar with 16 points (12 in the second half) and Baluck Deang, who scored 10.

Monroe improved to 7-3 overall, and 4-2 in the Badger South. Edgewood dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in league play. Stoughton, Monona Grove, and Watertown all lead the conference at 5-1 as the season hits the holiday break.
