WSN: Stoughton, Fennimore wrestling impressive in Cheesehead Invite

A third-place showing by Stoughton, as well as some big finishes for their wrestlers in the Cheesehead Invite, highlights a big holiday slate of high school wrestling action. Nate Woelfel of WisSports.net recaps the holiday events and looks ahead to the WIAA Tournament.

It wasn't just Stoughton that was impressive. Fennimore, one of the smallest schools in the event, managed a top-ten finish in the Cheesehead. You can read Nate's full write-up of the event by going here ($).

In the rankings, plenty of top-rated wrestlers statewide moved weights, as the postseason begins in only a few short weeks. As far as teams go, Division 2 looks to be wide-open, and several area teams, led by Lodi and Evansville/Albany, are in the top 12. Meanwhile, Division 3 features a number of southwestern Wisconsin teams looking to make their mark. And, in D1, Stoughton ranks #1.
