Football: Wisconsin defense returns experience to the secondary

Wisconsin Badgers Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard says last year's starting experience will benefit the secondary going into 2019.

In his availability with reporters, Leonhard talked about how several players got a chance to play, but thinks that the experience, as well as spring camp, have shown the players the difference between playing and playing well.

There's also excitement about some of the returning defensive lineman, a thin position group a year ago due to injuries. And, the linebackers will boast youth, but many competing for larger roles have already performed well on special teams and in spot duty.

Leonhard also notes that facing Wisconsin's quarterbacks, he believes all four have done well this spring.
