Colin Cowherd No Longer Believes Tua Tagovailoa Will Succeed in the NFL

Colin Cowherd: “Size matters in the NFL. The average quarterback height in the NFL is like 6’2” 1/2 and above. But because Russell Wilson dances around were like ‘IT’S THE FUTURE!’ No, it’s not the future, he’s just unbelievable. Kyler is Murray is also UNBELIEVABLE. These are all ‘run-around’ guys, you can’t catch them. Fran Tarkenton ran circles around people for ten years. Tua is small and isn’t really athletic. He has to be like 2016 Presidential polling, he has to be a historic exception. Can he be Drew Brees? Good God, that’s asking a lot. Drew Brees is the biggest outlier in the history of football. Small, doesn’t have a huge arm, doesn’t run around, and wins. That’s the only prototype I get to use? That’s it?? This idea that size doesn’t matter is nonsense. Go look at the 40 best quarterbacks in history, they’re almost ALL big. And when you do get the 5’11” 1/2 guy, you can’t catch them. They’re like comets. Tua has got all of the small, but none of the wiggle. He’s going to struggle to see over offensive lines, and unlike a Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Fran Tarkenton, or Russell Wilson, can't move around a lot and open up passing lanes. This idea that short and ‘no wiggle’ is going to dominant in the NFL? I hope I’m wrong, and maybe I’m wrong, but I’m sitting there this morning thinking ‘oh, boy, did I whiff on this.’ I already had my epiphany, but it’s too late. I had already bragged about him for six months.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he no longer believes Tua Tagovailoa will succeed in the NFL, as Colin says he had an ‘epiphany’ recently, and wants to completely pull back on his previous predictions that Tagovailoa would be the next Drew Brees in the NFL.

Check out the video above as Colin details why the rookie about to make his NFL debut this weekend simply isn’t athletic enough to get away with being that small as a QB, and says it’s such a long shot to simply predict he’ll be the next Brees-type little guy with limited speed to succeed at the next level.
