With four wins in the first five games of their 10-game road trip, the Brewers have found a groove with their pitching staff and timely hitting at the quarter pole of the season.
Milwaukee notched five runs against the Arizona bullpen, one of the best in baseball, and Jonathan Villar added three runs, three hits, and a home run to help the Brewers take down the NL West-leading Diamondbacks on Monday night.
A pair of former Brewers All-Stars had injury news in the opposite directions. Corey Knebel, working his way back into the bullpen after a hamstring injury, had no trouble closing out the game in the ninth inning in a non-save situation. Meanwhile, Ryan Braun missed the game with a back injury and was a late scratch.
Milwaukee and Arizona play two more times, with the second game on Tuesday night.
