A five-run seventh inning rally by the Kansas City Royals earned them a series split with the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon, with a final score of 5-4.
Brent Suter and the Brewers were cruising along into the sixth inning, when Jesús Aguilar belted a solo home run to make it 1-0 Milwaukee heading to the seventh.
Royals leadoff hitter Mike Moustakas drilled a solo home run of his own to tie it, and then Suter loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the seventh. Jeremy Jeffress got the next batter to ground out right back to the pitcher's mound, and Josh Hader stepped in to get the Brewers out of the bases-loaded jam with one away in the seventh.
Kansas City managed to touch up Hader, plating four more Royals to make it 5-1 after their half of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Milwaukee's rally got underway in a big way when Brad Miller hit a three-run homer with nobody out to trim the margin to a single run, but Ryan Braun would ground into a double play to end the game with the Royals winning 5-4.
Milwaukee begins a four-game series with the red-hot Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.
