Disastrous seventh inning dooms Brewers in 12-3 loss to Reds

Milwaukee led 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning against Cincinnati on Saturday, but an eight-run rally by the Reds, including a grand slam by a pitcher, overwhelmed the Brewers in a 12-3 win for Cincinnati.

Jhoulys Chacin worked five innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out five. It was the Brewers' bullpen that caved, with Josh Hader and Jeremy Jeffress unavailable after pitching Friday night. Taylor Williams, Mike Zagurski, and Jacob Barnes combined to allow nine earned runs, walked three batters, and struck out just two batters in two innings of work.

Catcher Erik Kratz pitched the bottom of the eighth inning, allowing two hits, walking one batter, and gave up a run while striking out one.

Milwaukee and Cincinnati wrap up their four-game series on Sunday.
