Lorenzo Cain's 11th-inning home run gave the Brewers a much-needed 2-1 win over the Reds on Thursday afternoon in Cincinnati.
Wade Miley was the workhorse in the game, going into the eighth inning giving up just one run and five hits in seven and a third innings pitched. Five relievers combined to hold the Reds to no additional runs and only one additional hit in the game.
Milwaukee exited Cincinnati with a 1.5-game lead in the Wild Card standings and in a virtual tie for the top Wild Card spot with St. Louis, now 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.
