After Saturday's 13-inning marathon depleted the bullpen, Zach Davies stepped up huge for the Brewers on Sunday, giving up just two runs in eight innings of work as Milwaukee defeated Pittsburgh 4-2 and took three of four games in the series from the Pirates.
Eric Thames factored into all four runs that the Brewers scored, with two runs scored himself and three RBI.
Milwaukee held off a late Pirates rally in the ninth, with the tying run on base and nobody out. Corbin Burnes got the final two outs to preserve the victory.
The Brewers host the Miami Marlins for three games beginning Tuesday at Miller Park. Chase Anderson is set to work for Milwaukee.
