Brewers avoid no-hitter, but lose 3-0 Monday

A 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals puts the Milwaukee Brewers three games back in the NL Central after play Monday night. The Brewers managed just one eighth-inning hit in the loss.

Yasmani Grandal hit a two-out double to break up a combined no-hitter by the Cardinals in the top of the eighth inning, but that was it as Milwaukee lost its fifth game in seven tries.

Zach Davies went five innings in his first start off of the injured list, allowing two runs and three hits.

The Brewers and Cardinals play again Tuesday night in St. Louis.
