With the season on the brink, the Milwaukee Brewers got an MVP performance from Christian Yelich, who had three hits to lift the Brewers over the Cubs 7-1 on Friday night.
Yelich hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put Milwaukee up for good in the win. Yasmani Grandal hit a solo home run one inning later as well for the Brewers.
Zach Davies went five innings for the victory, allowing just one run. All told, four Brewers pitchers held the Cubs to just three hits.
Game three of the critical four-game series is Saturday in Milwaukee.
