Brewers drop series opener to Reds 6-3 Monday night

Monday night's 6-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds drops the Milwaukee Brewers one game back of the Reds and St. Louis Cardinals, who the Brewers play five times this week, for a playoff spot.

Milwaukee trailed 2-1 into the bottom of the eighth inning, but former Brewer Mike Moustakas launched a three-run home run to pad Cincinnati's lead.

Brandon Woodruff struck out nine batters and allowed two runs in five and two-thirds innings of work, but took the loss.

Two more games remain in the series against the Reds before the Brewers take on St. Louis for five games in four days, all with the playoffs on the line.
