The Brewers are playing their best baseball of the season. They’ve now won four games in a row after a 9-4 win over Boston on Saturday afternoon.
The Brewers offense exploded again and it started early. Rowdy Tellez drove in Christian Yelich in the first inning to give the Brewers an early 1-0 lead.
Omar Narvaez hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning to extend the Brewers lead to 2-0. It was the fourth home run of the season for Narvaez.
Boston struck back in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Jaylin Davis. That cut the Brewers lead to 2-1.
Hunter Renfroe extended the Brewers lead against his former team with his 18th home run of the season in the fifth inning to give Milwaukee the 4-1 lead.
Kolten Wong hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to give the Brewers a 5-1 lead.
Boston made the game interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hoby Milner allowed three runs to the Red Sox. The lead was cut to 5-4.
However, the Brewers picked the bullpen up. Willy Adames hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Luis Urias hit an RBI double and scored on a wild pitch. Then Tyrone Taylor hit his 11th home run of the season to extend the Milwaukee lead to 9-4.
Jandel Gustave pitched a scoreless ninth inning, and the Brewers won 9-4.
Milwaukee has a four-game lead in the NL Central and will finish the series with Boston at 12:35pm on Sunday afternoon.
