Extra Innings Error Costs Brewers in 4-2 Loss to Reds

It was a pitchers duel at American Family Field on Sunday afternoon. However, the few mistakes by the Brewers were costly. The Reds scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning to beat the Brewers 4-2.

The Brewers got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Willy Adames hit his 22nd home run of the season. That gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead.

Corbin Burnes continued to cruise in the fourth inning, before allowing his only run of the day in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Michael Papierski. That tied the game at one.

Burnes exited after the sixth inning with his pitch count at 98 pitches. He finished with nine strikeouts, two walks, and just one earned run allowed.

Matt Bush threw a scoreless seventh inning for Milwaukee.

Taylor Rogers pitched the eighth inning and the Reds took the lead. Jonathan India singled to right field and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. With two outs, Donovan Solano hit an RBI double to score India and give the Reds a 2-1 lead.

In the ninth inning, Keston Huira hit a game-tying home run to right center field. It was his second home run of the weekend. The game headed to extra innings.

In the top of the 10th inning, the Reds scored a run on an error by Mike Brosseau which allowed Romine to score and Aquino to advance all the way to third base. The next batter, Solano, hit a sacrifice fly to score Aquino. This gave the Reds a 4-2 lead.

The Brewers were held scoreless in the bottom of the 10th inning and the Reds won 4-2.

The Brewers will be off on Monday before starting a two-game series against Tampa Bay on Tuesday night at 7:10pm in Milwaukee.
