The Brewers struggled mightily against Cubs starter Justin Steele. However, once Cubs Manager David Ross went to his bullpen, the bats for the Brewers woke up to give Milwaukee the 5-2 win over Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
Steele shut down the Brewers through the six innings he pitched and the Cubs led 2-0 through six innings at Wrigley Field. The Brewers went 2 for 19 against Steele, but the left-hander exited and the Brewers took advantage. The Brewers scored two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. Rowdy Tellez and Keston Hiura hit solo home runs.
In the eighth inning, the Brewers took the lead on an RBI sacrifice fly by Willy Adames. The Brewers led 3-2 heading to the ninth inning.
In the ninth inning, Keston Hiura struck gold again. He hit a two-run home run to extend the Brewers lead to 5-2. It was his 12th home run of the season and his second career multi-home run game.
Taylor Rogers earned his 29th save of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Brewers beat the Cubs 5-2.
The Brewers head to the west coast to start a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night at 9:10pm.
