Milwaukee Bucks Dismiss Head Coach Mike Budenholzer

The Milwaukee Bucks have dismissed Head Coach Mike Budenholzer, the team announced on Thursday.

Budenholzer took the Bucks to their first title in 50 years when the team won the championship in the 2020-2021 season. He also coached the Bucks to the best record in the NBA in the 2022-2023 regular season. But, the Bucks lost in five games to the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs just one week ago, which likely prompted this move.

“The decision to make this change was very difficult,” said Bucks general manager Jon Horst. “Bud helped lead our team for five incredible seasons, to the Bucks’ first title in 50 years, and into an era of sustained success. We are grateful for the culture of winning and leadership that Bud helped create in Milwaukee.

“This is an opportunity for us to refocus and reenergize our efforts as we continue building toward our next championship season.”
