WIAA regional openers wrapped up Wednesday night across the state after several games had to change dates due to weather affecting most of Wisconsin.

In Sectional 4, #9 DeForest defeated #8 Black River Falls 8-2 and will play at #1 Onlaaska/La Crosse on Thursday at 5 p.m. #7 Baraboo/Portage topped #10 Viroqua on Monday night 7-0 and will face #2 Reedsburg Thursday at 7 p.m. In another regional final, #4 Sauk Prairie will host #5 Aquinas Avalanche at 7 p.m. Thursday.
In Sectional 6, #8 McFarland edged #9 Oregon 3-2 Wednesday night to advance to Thursday's showdown at #1 Verona at 7 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, #5 Middleton travels to #4 Edgewood at LaBahn Arena on Friday at 6 p.m. #6 Madison Memorial blasted #11 La Follette/East Lakers 10-1 and will face #3 Madison West on both programs' home ice on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Madison Ice Arena. #2 Sun Prairie will face either Waunakee or Monona Grove Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Sun Prairie.
In Sectional 7, #9 Greendale upended #8 Monroe 2-1 to advance. #4 Janesville will host #5 Whitefish Bay on the other half of the bracket. On the bottom side, #6 Beloit Memorial knocked off #11 Kenosha Bradford 3-2 and visits #3 Kettle Moraine on Friday night at 7 p.m. In their bracket pairing, #10 Milton/Fort Atkinson took down #7 Stoughton 2-1 and will play at #2 Marquette on Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
In Girls Hockey, regionals begin Thursday in Sectional 3, with #2 Rock County, #4 Metro Lynx, and #6 Stoughton Icebergs all in action. #1 Cap City has a bye.
Winners of Thursday and Friday's regional finals will advance to sectional play next Tuesday. The WIAA State Hockey Championships are Thursday-Saturday February 28-March 2 at Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
