Friday's regional semifinal round cut the remaining active girls basketball teams in the state in half as play continues Saturday and Monday across Wisconsin in the WIAA Tournament.

Some regional final games are being played earlier on Saturday due to impending weather, while others are being moved outright to Monday night to skip the weather entirely.
Division 1, Sectional 3: The top five seeds (Sun Prairie, Middleton, Madison East, Madison La Follette, Madison Memorial) all won and advanced. #11 Janesville Craig upset #6 Badger, while #10 Waunakee took down #7 Verona in two seeded upsets.
Division 2, Sectional 2: Beaver Dam demolished Plymouth to advance to the regional final.
Division 2, Sectional 3: The top two seeds in the upper half of the bracket held (Monona Grove and Monroe--you can read more about Monroe below). #5 DeForest beat #4 Oregon, while #6 Stoughton ended #3 Reedsburg's season. In the bottom half of the bracket, #7 Jefferson took down #2 Wilmot Union.
Division 3, Sectional 3: The top half of the bracket went chalk, with Prairie du Chien and Wisconsin Dells opting to meet on Monday to avoid the weather for the regional crown. The bottom half of the bracket, including #2 Marshall, the defending D3 champ, went chalk as well.
Division 4, Sectional 3: Outside of #5 Lancaster beating #4 Cuba City, the brackets fell as seeded on Friday night.
Division 5, Sectional 3 and 4: No really big upsets involving area teams.
Monroe 71, McFarland 33
Monroe dominated after the midway point of the first half, turning a 19-13 lead near the midway point of the opening half into a 71-33 rout of Rock Valley champion McFarland on Friday night.
Sydney Hilliard dropped 15 of her game-high 25 points in the first half, out-scoring McFarland on her own until she left the game with six minutes to play. Emily Benzschawel added 17 points to help Monroe to a playoff-opening win.
McFarland was led in scoring by Annalise DeMuth with 11 points.
McFarland ends the year at 14-9 in coach Sara Mallegni's first campaign. Monroe will face Stoughton Saturday for a regional championship.
