With the WIAA State Girls Hockey Tournament set to begin Friday morning at 10 a.m., fourth-seeded Cap City enters the event as the underdog, set to take on the top-seeded Fox Cities Stars in the opener for the girls hockey portion of the three-day State meet.
Cap City earned the #1 seed in Sectional 3, and defeated the Onalaska co-op to advance to state. Last year, the Cougars made it to the championship game before falling to the ECA (Eau Claire) Stars. Coach Jeff Thornton believes the experience of the past two years, as well as playing so close to home, should help the Cougars in this year's state appearance.
