Marshall, Black Hawk capture WIAA State Girls Basketball titles

The early session of the 2019 WIAA State Girls Basketball Championships saw two teams from south-central Wisconsin take home gold trophies.

In the Division 5 state championship, Black Hawk pulled away from Clayton to win the battle of undefeated squads 51-36. After taking home the silver trophy last year, the Black Hawk Warriors were able to capture their first-ever championship in girls basketball, and second state title in this school year (football took home the D7 championship in November).

Marshall repeated as Division 3 champions with a 64-56 win over previously-undefeated Laconia for the Cardinals' fourth state championship in girls basketball in school history.

Aquinas won the Division 4 title over Melrose-Mindoro 65-39 in the other morning session game.

It's a Badger Conference showdown in the Division 2 title game, with Beaver Dam and Monroe squaring off at 6:35 p.m., followed by Middleton battling Bay Port around 8:35 p.m. in the Division 1 game. You can watch the games on WKOW 27.
