It took a big second-half rally and clutch baskets by Cooper Nelson and Colin Schaefer, but the Sun Prairie Cardinals are headed to the title game of the state boys basketball tournament for the first time in school history. Sun Prairie defeated West Allis Central 62-60 in overtime on Friday night.
Delaware Hale and Brock Voigt led the Cardinals with 14 points in the win, with Nelson also notching double figures with 10 points.
Sun Prairie rallied from a double-digit second-half deficit and had a three-point lead with only seconds to play, but West Allis Central hit a last-second three to send the game to overtime.
The Cardinals would use clutch baskets down the stretch to advance to Saturday night's title tilt against Brookfield Central.
