Caden Nelson tossed three touchdowns to Caden Lewis and Alec Morgan rushed for three touchdowns as Waunakee demolished Monona Grove 54-6 on Friday night.
From the start, it was all Waunakee, as the Warriors scored on eight of their 11 drives in the game. That included a Hail Mary throw to end the first half with Waunakee up 40-6 at the break.
Nelson completed 12 of 15 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns, all to Lewis, and ran for 87 yards on nine carries with another touchdown. Lewis finished with eight grabs for 117 yards and the scores.
Morgan carried 15 times for 126 and the hat trick in scoring. The eighth touchdown scored by Waunakee was a Ben Meinholz 45-yard run in the second half.
Monona Grove struggled all night, rushing for 109 yards while throwing for 118. Their lone touchdown was an eight-yard touchdown pass from Camron Behnke to Henry Wash in the first half.
Waunakee has now defeated Monona Grove 10 of the past 11 meetings between the schools.
