It's been an interesting season for the Waunakee Warriors, dealing with heavy graduation losses and injuries throughout 2019. Yet the powerhouse program finds itself back in the state semifinals tonight against Waukesha West.
Pat Rice, head coach for Waunakee, told The Big 1070 that this year's team has had a great ability to deal with adversity, crediting the player leadership on the squad for being adaptable to constantly-changing roles as the season unfolded. The result has been an 11-1 start, the lone loss coming to DeForest in Week 9. The Norskies are still playing in Division 3 this year.
In the Division 2 state semifinal, it'll be one of two power programs going back to Camp Randall as the Warriors face Waukesha West at Kettle Moraine tonight.
