Madison Memorial's historic run to the state semifinal ended in Oconomowoc on Friday night as the Spartans fell 49-13 to defending Division 1 state champion Muskego.
The Spartans drew within a score in the first half, but Muskego took advantage of Memorial turnovers and used their powerful Wing-T offense to rush for over 400 yards on just 34 carries.
Memorial was the first Madison public school to make it to a state semifinal in 35 years, and the first-ever Madison public school to win three playoff games in one season.
With the loss, Memorial's season wraps up with a 12-1 record. Muskego, winners of 27 games in a row, will defend its title next Friday afternoon at Camp Randall Stadium against Bay Port.
