Last year, Mount Horeb won the Badger North Conference title and advanced all the way to a sectional final, falling in a thrilling 60-58 contest to Elkhorn.
With over 90% of last year's production now graduated, Mount Horeb boys basketball coach Todd Nesheim and the Vikings are embracing the new season as an opportunity for growth and development.
Coach Nesheim told The Big 1070 that early in the year, teams normally work on fundamentals, and with so many new players on varsity, part of the challenge in instruction is making sure everyone is able to take it all in while also getting their first extended minutes in varsity action for the most part.
The Vikings have just one returning regular: Owen Ziegler, who shot 44% from three from last year's Vikings squad. Ziegler played a big role in helping Mount Horeb score their first win of the season, a road victory over defending Badger South champion Monona Grove on Tuesday night.
