HSBB: Edgerton falls to Sheboygan Lutheran in final seconds 70-69

Edgerton went toe-to-toe with defending Division 5 state champion Sheboygan Lutheran at the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout, but Jonah Jurss' three-point shot gave the Crusaders their first lead of the game with 3.8 seconds left, the eventual game-winner, in a 70-69 victory.

In the first half, the Tiders raced out to an 11-0 start, and kept up the pace through the end of the first half, taking a 40-30 lead to the locker room. Drew Hanson led Edgerton with nine first-half points.

Edgerton started the second half on a quick 6-0 run behind Nick Spang, who scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half for Edgerton. However, Sheboygan Lutheran turned to its star players, and the defending champs got to work.

Valparaiso recruit Jacob Ognacevic led the way for the Crusaders, scoring 16 of his game-high 29 points in the second half, and Jurss hit the three-point basket in the final seconds to give him 21 on the game and the MVP award for the contest.

For Edgerton, it was just their second loss of the season, dropping their record to 6-2. The Tiders will next play Evansville on January 7.

Sheboygan Lutheran improved to 8-1 and will take on Cedar Grove-Belgium on January 4.
