Edgewood knocked off its second Big 8 team in the 2019-2020 season with a 46-42 home-court win over Sun Prairie in a match-up of teams both ranked in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll as of last week.
Edgewood, ranked #10 last week in Division 3 before dropping out of this week's poll, got out to a 5-0 lead and never trailed in holding off Sun Prairie, ranked #9 in last week's Division 1 poll.
The Crusaders got it done with solid defense, holding the Cardinals to just 19 points in the first half. Leading Sun Prairie scorer Jazzanay Seymore scored just nine points, while teammate Marie Outlay scored a team-high 10.
For Edgewood, Ella Foti scored 13 points, while Sarah Lazar added 12 to pace the Crusaders in their big win.
Sun Prairie has lost four of its past five, and will meet up with undefeated Madison Memorial on Friday night on the road. Edgewood will get Reedsburg in the Badger Challenge on Saturday afternoon in Beaver Dam.
