The Green Bay Packers were active on the first day of free agency, signing four new players and retaining two from last year's squad while sending out 11 players into unrestricted free agency. Tom Silverstein of JSOnline talks with Lucas in the Morning about which new player may have the greatest impact.
Of the four new players signed, the most money went to edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, formerly of Baltimore. Along with former Washington edge rusher Preston Smith, the Packers have invested heavily in the position, also opting to jettison Nick Perry (which will result in $11 million of dead money against the cap) and letting Clay Matthews walk into free agency. Additionally, the signing of Adrian Amos allowed the team to non-tender safety Kentrell Brice.
