Five teens arrested after police chase in stolen vehicle

Five teens face multiple charges after being arrested following a chase early Tuesday on the Beltline in Madison.

Monona police were in the area of West Broadway and US Highway 12 about 1 a.m. Tuesday listening to the Dane County radio channel when they heard that a Dane County Deputy was in pursuit of a stolen GMC Acadia eastbound at a high rate of speed, according to a Monona Police Department press release.

An officer from the Town of Madison Police Department put out stop sticks in the area of Rimrock Road, which successfully punctured tires on the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop near Monona Drive.

Officers saw the five suspects get out and jump over the center median, cross the westbound lanes of the highway and run north towards the shopping center at Monona and Broadway.

Police followed, and with the assistance of other area departments, all five subjects were arrested.

The vehicle was returned to its owner. During an inventory search of the vehicle, numerous stolen credit cards and other personal items were recovered
