According to Aaron Rodgers, it wouldn't make sense to release Jordy Nelson, and then bring in Dez Bryant.
Rodgers followed up by saying that if Bryant ended up with the Packers, that they would welcome him as part of the team.
Once Bryant was released by Dallas, many dismissed any talk of him signing with the Packers based on how Green Bay typically operates in free agency. Not to mention, as Rodgers pointed out, the team had just released a veteran receiver in Nelson earlier this offseason.
The rumors flared up again when Jason Witten, a former teammate of Bryant's, said that an ideal fit for Bryant would be the Packers.
