Golden Eagles grounded in Storrs

The Marquette Golden Eagles were flying high after their upset win at North Carolina on Sunday. That high only lasted a couple of days, however, as coach Steve Wojciechowski's club looked sluggish on both ends of the floor in their 80-62 loss at Connecticut Saturday afternoon.

After taking an early five point lead at 11-6, Marquette was thoroughly outplayed by the Huskies, who shot 16 for 31 (51.6 percent) in the first half and 33 of 64 (51.6 percent) for the game. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles struggled from the field, shooting just 8 of 27 (29.6 percent) in the first half and 22-of-56 (39.3 percent) for the game.

MU was led by Dawson Garcia's 18 points, while U-CONN was paced by James Bouknight's 24 points and R.J. Cole's 21 points.

The Golden Eagles (11-13, 6-11 Big East) have just two regular season games left; at DePaul on Tuesday night and their final home game of the season, March 6 vs. Xavier.
