GREEN BAY â If youâre going to have to play in Floridaâs heat, you might as well do it as close to the Wisconsin humidity of training camp as possible.
To be sure, Florida has been a state that has flummoxed the Packers, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers in particular. As Green Bayâs starting quarterback, Rodgersâ career record is just 3-5 with a passer rating under 80. The last time the Packers played in The Sunshine State was a moved road game against the Saints to begin the 2021 season in where New Orleans dominated, 38-3.
Sundayâs temperature at kickoff is forecast in the high 80âs, but the humidity is expected to be relatively low.
But while Green Bay will have to counter with Tampaâs heat, they will not have to counter with star wide receiver Mike Evans. Evans was suspended by the NFL for his dead-ball, blind side hit on New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore this past Sunday. Evans appealed, but the suspension was upheld.
So how much might the Packers planning be different without Evans on the other side of the field?
âNot much," Packers coach Matt LaFleur said on Wednesday. âWeâve got enough to worry about. Theyâve got a lot of playmakers over there and, really, in every phase, great coaches. Itâs going to be a great challenge. We only worry about the things that we can control. Thatâs totally out of our control, so it doesnât impact us at all.â
Packers GameDay coverage begins at 10:00 Sunday morning; kickoff with Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren happens at 3:25 Sunday afternoon.
