Wisconsin will kick off the 2018 football season by hosting Western Kentucky this Friday (4 p.m. on 1310 WIBA; 8 p.m. kickoff).
Western Kentucky is a team that passed the ball frequently last year, about 40 times per game. So, Wisconsin's inexperienced secondary will get a good look this week as they contend with the pass-happy Hilltoppers. The Badgers defense will be under the most scrutiny in this opening game because of all the new faces.
The Badgers' offense will be balancing the depth of some positions (such as running back and offensive line) for playing time while figuring out rotations at others (such as wide receiver).
