Claudia Kepler's journey from China to Madison encapsulates the dominant story in the sports and news world today: How the COVID-19 outbreak is affecting people all across the world, and right here at home.
Kepler is back home in Verona after helping the KRS Vanke Rays in China win the Russian League Championship two weeks ago. After playing in Sweden last year, Kepler decided to continue her career in Shenzhen, China, but the season changed dramatically in early January when the Coronavirus started to spread in that country. Home games were cancelled and the team was forced to play the final six weeks of the season in Russia. Kepler had one day to celebrate the league title before traveling 30 hours home via Moscow, New York, and Chicago. She's been in self-quarantine since.
