MADISON – The Wisconsin football team figures to be more active throwing the ball in 2023. To that end, chemistry is building between presumed No. 1 quarterback Tanner Mordecai and junior wide receiver Chimre Dike.
Dike, the most experienced wide receiver in coach Mike Brown’s position room, hauled in a pair of deep balls from Mordecai on Tuesday during workouts inside the McClain Center.
Transfer receiver Will Pauling and third-year tight end Jack Pugh took significant snaps with the first team on Tuesday; Pauling getting reps at the slot position.
Pugh and Mordecai connected on a 30-yard completion early in the workout.
The young Wisconsin defense was notable on Tuesday for mostly limiting the deep reads Mordecai and the rest of the quarterbacks got. Redshirt sophomore Ricardo Hallman had a strong showing against the top two receivers on the roster, Dike and USC transfer C.J. Williams.
The Badgers will next practice on Thursday.
